York Scheibels Extraction Column (MLABS-MTLI-002)
The setup is designed to demonstrate principles of extraction and mass transfer operation in a YORK SCHEIBEL'S column.
The set up consists of a glass column, feed tanks, air regulator with pressure gauge, receiving tanks and piping. Rotameter are provided for flow measurement.
The glass column is divided into multiple stages; each stage consists of a woven wire mesh (calming) section and a mechanical agitation section. The agitator speed can be varied by drive. The presence of alternatively agitating and calming sections yield higher extraction efficiency than conventional packed column

Solid-Liquid Extraction bonnoto type (MLABS-MTLI-004)
The setup is designed to demonstrate principles of extraction in a Bonnotto type extraction column. It consists of a SS column, feed tank with heating arrangement, receiving tanks and piping. Rotameter is provided for flow measurement.
The column is divided into multiple stages; each stage consists of a plate and a mechanical agitation section. The circular plates are arranged one above the other in opposite radial opening, yield higher extraction efficiency than conventional packed column.
The solids are introduced at the top through a hopper spread over the top plate and pushed to slot to fall to the next plate below and so on to the bottom of the column. The solvent is introduced near the bottom of the column and it flow upward counter-currently to the solids. A pump supplies the solvent and flow rate is monitored by means of a Rotameter. At the bottom of column a screw conveyor arrangement is done to remove the extracted solids driven by means of an electric motor. Solvent feed tank is kept in a bath fitted with heater. A digital temperature controller is used to control and measure the temperature of feed

Solid-Liquid Extraction (Packed Bed Type) (MLABS-MTLI-005)
This setup is designed to study the performance characteristics of solvent extraction of a particular component from a packed bed of solid material. The apparatus allows study of such systems as water / inorganic salts, water/sugar bed, methylene chloride / vegetable oil etc.
The set up consists of a glass column, feed tank, receiving tanks and piping. Rotameter are provided for flow measurement. The glass column is fitted with SS mesh to support the solid material.
The solvent is introduced near the bottom of the column and it flow upward counter currently to the solids. A pump supplies the solvent and flow rate is monitored by means of a Rotameter. Bubble Cap Distillation Column (MLABS-MTLI-006)
The setup is designed to demonstrate principles of distillation in a Bubble Cap column.
The column is made of Stainless Steel with seven plates for mounting the bubble caps. Each plate is provided with one bubble cap. An electrically heated re-boiler is installed at the bottom of the column. The vapors form the top of column are condensed in the shell and tube type condenser by circulating cooling water supplied by laboratory overhead tank.
The condensate is divided into reflux and distillate by automatic reflux divider and R/D Ratio can be varied. Reflux is fed back to the column and distillate is received in a receiving tank. The complete column is insulated for minimizing the heat loss. Instrumentation is done for pressure & temp measurement wherever is necessary

The equipment consists of jacketed pressure vessel for distillation. Steam from a steam generator can either be allowed to enter 'in the outer jacket or in the vessel. The vapors form the top of the vessel are condensed in the shell and tube type condenser by circulating cooling water supplied by laboratory overhead tank.
The condensate is colleted in a separating chamber. The set-up is fitted with steam trap control valves pressure gauge, temperature sensors and other instrumentations required

Absorption in Sieve Plate Column (MLABS-MTLI-010)
The set up consists of stainless steel column fitted with perforated plates, feed tank, CO2 cylinder with regulator, air regulator with pressure gauge, Rotameter, receiving tanks and piping. Metered quantity of fluid is distributed over the packing/perforated plates while metered gas and airflow is passed through the bed vertically upwards.
The gas air mixture is absorbed in the liquid. All the flow rates can be independently varied to simulate different conditions and by measuring the concentration of gas absorbed in the liquid the overall volumetric mass transfer coefficients can be calculated
